Finding great family-friendly programming for little ones is hard. There are hundred of satellite channels available but relatively few for young children. Here I’ve composed a list of kid-loved channels that should be available in your satellite line-up.
The Hub
The Hub offers a wide assortment of kid-friendly and mommy approved shows for boys and girls. As an added bonus, those of us in our 30s get the treat of reliving our childhood with remakes of classics like Transformers, My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake. The channel also has days devoted just to the old shows of the 1980s, with marathons of GI Joe and Jem and the Holograms to name a few.
Disney
Good Old Disney! Walt definitely knew what he was doing. His characters are still going strong today. Disney split its viewing times up recently and now early mornings are called Disney Jr. Here, you will find updated versions of masterful classics, like Mickey Mouse and a new Peter Pan for today’s kid – Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Keep a sharp eye out for special movie times when you and your little ones can enjoy one of Disney’s timeless films.
Sprout
Sprout is a channel dedicated to preschoolers and has an awesome assortment of shows teaching kids lessons on life Barney, Bob the Builder, Super Why and the Wiggles all have made their home on Sprout.
Nick Jr.
Sail away with the Wonder Pets or play detective along with Blue’s Clues. Nickelodeon’s station, dedicated to younger viewers, is a never ending line-up of fun for little ones. Most shows have a learning aspect to them, too. And nobody gets slime dumped on their heads – kudos Nick Jr.!
Cartoon Network
Mostly this channel seems to be geared toward little boys. Your action hungry guy can battle with Bakugan, laugh with Gumball, fight team Rocket with Pokemon and even belly up to good old fashioned Looney Toons. Who new Bugs Bunny would still be around this long?
